Philippe Sands

Philippe Sands (born 1960) is a British-French jurist who is a professor of international law at University College London.

He criticized Tony Blair for forgeries as a pretext for the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Sands has called for a separate international tribunal, much like the Nuremberg Trials, to investigate the warfare of Vladimir Putin and his associates in Ukraine following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
In 2020, he published The Ratline about SS officer Otto von Wächter who led the Holocaust in Galicja and escaped court proceedings after World War II. The book is based on research done in connection with his book Back to Lemberg (2016).
