Sanaa Aoun (b. 1975) is a writer, journalist and teacher from Damascus in Syria. Aoun holds a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Damascus and worked for many years as a special needs teacher in a Syrian primary school. She has published two short story collections in Arabic, and continues to be a regular contributor to Arab online newspapers. Aoun came to Tromsø as part of the Cities of Refuge Network in 2016, and has since had examples of her work published in the Norwegian newspapaer Klassekampen and in the anthology For Folk Flest (For Most People) (2017). In June 2018, her monologue En halv kvinne (Half a Woman) was performed at Hålogaland theater. Several of her texts have previously been translated into English and German.
