The literary review's relationship with the others has a long and motley history, and writers with a minority background still experience being reduced to representatives of what is different, what (for the critic) is unknown. In the lecture Poetry Reviewing and Race, Sandeep Parmar, professor of English literature, poet and poetry critic for, amongst others, The Guardian, aims to draw attention to the implications of locking authorship into identity-based readings at the expense of questions about literary quality.
