Argentinian-American Hernan Diaz and Danish Solvej Balle are celebrated worldwide for their distinctive novels. But the road to success has been long. Hernan Diaz had received heaps of rejection letters before he succeeded in persuading a small publisher to publish his debut novel In the Distance. The novel eventually became a finalist for the prestigious Pulitzer Prize. Solvej Balle got tired of her rejection letters and published her novels on her own imprint. As a result, she has been awarded the Nordic Council's literature prize and has been praised by critics worldwide.
