German author Judith Schalansky has written an original catalogue of things that have disappeared and the traces they have left behind. In her latest novel Bread and Milk, Swedish writer Karolina Ramqvist follows a lonely girl's upbringing through memories of food, which can both fill her entire mind, whilst at the same time threaten to consume her.
