Elizabeth Strout (US), Adania Shibli (PS), Oliver Lovrenski, (NO), Kim Thúy (VN/CA), Amina Elmi (DK), Kjell Westö (FI), Mariana Enriquez (AR), Auður Ava Ólafsdóttir (IS), John Ajvide Lindqvist (SE), Constance Debré (FR), Tore Renberg (NO), Vigdis Hjorth (NO), Pedro Carmona Alvarez (NO), Nadia Ansar (NO), and Abid Raja (NO) are among the authors coming to the Norwegian Festival of Literature in 2024.
Several authors and events were announced in the Festival’s Advent calendar in December and a limited amount of festival passes listed at an “early bird” price were snapped up in record time, but it’s still possible to purchase passes, individual tickets, and – new this year! – gift cards here.
“It’s wonderful to see how much people are looking forward to this year’s festival,” says director Marit Borkenhagen.
The full program will be announced this spring.
Mysticism and magic
Johan Egerkrans is a critically acclaimed Swedish illustrator and author who is also this year’s Festival Artist. His illustration “Sjörået” – a female creature who rules over a lake and the animals that inhabit it – will be featured on the Festival’s poster. “Anyone who wants to fish in the sjörå’s lake must ask her permission and present her with a small gift. If you don’t, there’s a risk that she’ll pull you down into the depths,” says Egerkrans.
Shibli, Strout, and other stars
Some of the highlights that were announced are conversations with Adania Shibli and Elizabeth Strout, and the Opening Ceremony featuring authors such as Oliver Lovrenski (NO), Meryem Sultan (CN), Lyuba Yakimchuk (UA), and Frode Grytten (NO).
