Bernhard Ellefsen

Bernhard Ellefsen (b. 1984) writes about books for Morgenbladet. He was named Critic of the Year in 2014 and received the Arne Hestenes Prize for Journalism in 2016. Against Death was published in 2018 and was his first book.

In his second book, What Is Lost, Ellefsen offers insightful and provocative essays that engage readers with both nature and literature—and with what the two reveal about each other. Set against the backdrop of the climate and environmental crisis, the book is equally concerned with what we risk overlooking in our own nature. Ellefsen writes about both travel literature and literature that engages directly with the natural world.
