Eduardo Halfon was born in 1971 in Guatemala. He has published twenty works of fiction, which have been translated into more than fifteen languages. In 2011, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship, and in 2015 he received the prestigious Prix Roger Caillois de Littérature Latino-Américaine in France.
The novel Sorg was awarded the Premio de las Librerías de Navarra (Spain), the Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger (France), the Edward Lewis Wallant Award (USA), and the International Latino Book Award (USA). The novel Canción received the Premio Cálamo Extraordinario (Spain) and the Berman Literature Prize (Sweden).
Tarantell, his most recent novel, was awarded, among other prizes, the Spanish Critics’ Prize and the Prix Médicis for Best Foreign Novel in France. In 2018, Halfon received Guatemala’s National Literature Prize, the highest literary distinction in his home country.
Six of Halfon’s books have been published in Norwegian, and in connection with his festival appearance in June, they will all be released together in paperback under the title Sekstett.
