Pedro Carmona-Alvarez

Pedro Carmona‑Alvarez was born in 1972 in La Serena, Chile, grew up in Kolbotn outside Oslo, and is now based in Bergen. He made his debut with the poetry collection Helter in 1997 and has since published novels, poetry, and essays. He has also served as editor for Cappelen Damm’s debutant anthology Signaler, as well as Verden finnes ikke på kartet, an anthology of literary translations of international poetry (co-edited with Gunnar Wærness).

Carmona‑Alvarez has received numerous awards, including the Sult Prize, the P2 Listeners’ Novel Award, the Critics’ Prize, and the Riksmål Prize. His books have been translated into several languages. Pedro Carmona‑Alvarez is also a musician.
