Witold Szablowski

Witold Szablowski (b. 1980) writes non-fiction. His books have been translated into 30 languages, across five continents.
His most internationally renowned book is How to Feed a Dictator. A film adaptation of the book is set to premiere in Hollywood in 2026.
His book about Turkey, The Assassin from the Apricot City, was described as “a gem” by a New York Times reviewer and Szabłowski himself has been hailed as a master storyteller.
He has been brilliantly received around the world for his reportage from various corners of Europe and his reports on Polish and Central European history from selected periods of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. He has emerged in the Polish school of reportage as one of the sharpest heirs to the legacy of Melchior Wańkowicz and Ryszard Kapuściński. He has been given awards, including the Journalism Award of the European Parliament, and has been nominated for many distinctions, including the Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards for Dancing Bears, the only non-English-language title among the nominees.
