EXHIBITION OPENING

Welcome to the opening of this year’s festival exhibitions at Galleri Zink, featuring Synnøve Persen in the main gallery and Per Heimly in the project room.

Synnøve Persen is from Porsanger in Finnmark. She is a Sámi visual artist and author, nominated twice for the Nordic Council Literature Prize in the Sámi language category. Persen has held numerous solo and group exhibitions over the years.

Per Heimly is a Norwegian-Sámi photographer based in Oslo. He grew up as the youngest of seven siblings in the reindeer-herding Sámi village of Snubba in Evenes, Nordland. At age 16, he picked up a camera, moved to Oslo, and declared war on the prevailing visual norms. In 1999, Heimly co-founded Fjords, a fashion and art magazine that helped bring modern Nordic culture and design to an international audience. His images are often provocative, revealing beauty in the unseemly, the degrading, and the taboo.
