Adania Shibli

Born in 1974 in Palestine and one of the most acclaimed writers of his generation. Along with Najwan Darwish and Ala Hlehel, she is among the Palesinians selected for the anthology Beirut 39. New writing from the arab world (2010) with writers under the age of 40. In addition to three novels, plays and short stories published in journals, Adriana Shibli has a PhD at the University of East London with the thesis Visual Terror, where she examined the use of images in western media in the depiction of terrorist attacks.

She currently has a guest researcher position in Berlin, where she devotes herself to a project based on the theories of the 1000s thinker al-Ghazali. Two of her novels - both award-winning - are available in English translation: Touch which came out in the original in 2002 and We are equally far from love (2004).
