Damir Avdagic's practice explores historical memory and identity through text, performance, and video. The conflict in the former Yugoslavia (1991-1995) constitutes a central part of Avdagic's family history and serves as a starting point from which he addresses shifting political systems, immigration, and the relationship between generations. Damir Avdagic was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (MFA, 2008-2014) and the University of California (MFA, 2013-2016). He was a Fulbright scholar and recipient of other prestigious grants from the Norway-America Foundation, OCA, and Arts Council Norway, to name a few. Avdagic has presented his work both domestically and internationally.
