Kjell Westö was born in 1961 in Helsinki and is one of the foremost Finland-Swedish authors. He stands out as a chronicler of our modern history. He made his debut in 1986 and has written poetry, short stories, essays, and several award-winning novels that have been published in multiple languages. Westö's books have won and been nominated for most major literary awards in Finland, Sweden, and the Nordic countries numerous times, including the Nordic Council Literature Prize, the Finlandia Prize, and the August Prize. He was awarded the Finlandia Prize for Der vi engang gikk (Where We Once Walked) in 2006 and the Nordic Council Literature Prize for Svik 1938 (Betrayal 1938) in 2014. The novel Tritonus was published in the fall of 2020.
