Margherita Podestà Heir (b. 1964) has studied Scandinavian language and literature at the University of Milan and the University of Oslo. She has translated over 70 books by authors such as Jon Fosse, Karl Ove Knausgård, Vigdis Hjorth, Matias Faldbakken, Tore Renberg, Zeshan Shakar, Henrik Ibsen, and Sigrid Undset. She was appointed as Knight (2007) and Officer (2022) of the Italian Republic for her contribution as a disseminator of language and culture.
