The Norwegian Festival of Literature is celebrating its 30th anniversary – with a fantastic jubilee program and a special focus on literature from Sápmi and the North. Join us for an opening ceremony centered on the power and meaning of language. You'll hear sounds from languages you know—and others you don’t understand—set to the rhythm of a beating heart.

This is about nature, politics, struggle, and love – and the right to be who you are. It’s about languages that crumble and maybe are reborn, languages that open secret doors, that cross chasms and bind us together; treasures hidden in the puzzle-map of language, and linguistic music for the soul. How can you describe your world when you're not allowed to use your own words?
The performance begins with the official opening of the festival, and the presentation of the Bjørnson Prize and The Norwegian Dobloug Prizes. Official opening by Lubna Jaffery, Minister of Culture and Equality.
